The Forest Hill Falcons face the West Broward Bobcats in a Class 7A regional quarterfinal at Pembroke Pines on Friday night. Both schools have been well known for their losing ways over the past decade.
Forest Hill(8-1) makes their first appearance in the FHSAA playoffs since 1996. They have the worst winning percentage in Palm Beach County with a .184 since 2000. It has been a rejuvenation for the Falcons this season as they almost went undefeated with the exception of a loss to district rival Dwyer.
The Falcons offense puts more emphasis on their rushing attack. Running backs Bryan Jones, Chaz Eaton and Ryan Edwards bring plenty of speed from the backfield in addition to quarterback Darius McClendon. Wide receivers Deshon Simans, Carlos Diaz and Steven Frederick look to get open down the field for passes.
West Broward(7-2) has one the worst winning percentages in Broward County at .305 for the past ten seasons. The Bobcats return to the postseason for the second time in the last three years. They captured their first district title this year with wins over Nova and Cooper City.
The Bobcats will run their offense from a wing-t formation. It will consist of running back Dominic Tianga along with wide receivers Jason Montes, Eric Hoff and Jason O'Keefe. Tianga will rarely throw the ball from the quarterback position.
