The Monsignor Pace Spartans take on the University School Sharks in Davie at AutoNation Field on Friday night in a Class 4A regional final. Both teams met each other during Week 5 in Miami and the Sharks were victorious 27-22.
Following the loss to University School, Monsignor Pace(8-1) has won seven consecutive games and it includes a 31-7 victory in a regional semifinal last week over Key West. They have outscored their last seven opponents 257-34. Look for quarterback Lorenzo Floyd to dictate the Spartans offense with the run and the pass.
University School(8-1) won their first seven game of the regular season and then fell to Chaminade-Madonna 33-14 in the season finale. The Sharks got by former district rival Glades Central 44-21 in a regional semifinal last week. With the exception of a 2-0 forfeit win against Village Academy, they have outscored opponents 229-146 in their other eight games this season.
The Sharks have a powerful rushing attack with running backs Kenny McIntosh and Michael Hurt. They can rotate during any drive at quarterback with starter George Bubrick and his backup Nick Vattiato. They have a bulk of wide receivers that consist of Zay Flowers, Joshua Sanguinetti, Christian Wells and Jordan Irizarry.
