The New England Patriots defeated the Miami Dolphins 35-17 at Gillette Field on Sunday. The Dolphins have almost been eliminated from winning the AFC East Division this season.
New England(9-2) piled on 14 points in the first quarter. Rex Burkhead rushed in from two yards out at 11:46. Tom Brady completed a five-yard touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski at the 5:41 mark.
Miami(4-7) got on the scoreboard at 13:19 of the second quarter. Reshard Jones recovered a fumble and returned it 14 yards for a score.
The Pats kept the pressure up and regained their 14-point margin with 8:33 left in the second. Brady tossed a one-yard touchdown pass to Burkhead. The Fins closed the gap to 21-10 with 4:10 remaining in the first half when Cody Parkey kicked a 28-yard field goal.
In the third quarter, the Patriots struck again at 10:33. It was Brady to Gronkowski again and this time it was from 15 yards out to make it 28-10.
The Dolphins mounted an attack and scored at 11:49 of the fourth quarter. Matt Moore found Kenyan Drake on an eight-yard pass play.
Brady threw his fourth touchdown pass of the contest with 6:35 to go in the fourth. Brandin Cooks caught a five-yard reception in the end zone from Brady.
