The Buffalo Bills defeated the Miami Dolphins 24-16 at New Era Field on Sunday. The loss almost eliminates the Dolphins from playoff contention in the American Football Conference.
Buffalo(8-6) pulled out to a 7-0 lead at 10:16 of the first quarter. Running back LeSean McCoy scooted in from four yards away.
The Dolphins chipped at the lead later. Cody Parkey kicked a 28-yard field goal with 3:20 left in the first quarter and nailed a 41-yard field goal at the 9:20 mark of the second quarter.
The rest of the first half belonged to the Bills. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor connected a 16-yard touchdown pass to McCoy with 6:10 to go. Taylor scored on a nine-yard run with 40 seconds remaining in the second to make it 21-6. Steven Hauschka had the only points of the third quarter with a 34-yard field goal for a Buffalo 18-point margin.
Miami(6-8) tried to get out of the deficit during the fourth quarter. Running back Kenyan Drake plunged in on a rush from one-yard out at 8:02. Parkey made his third field goal of the contest, this time from 26 yards, with 43 seconds left in the fourth.
