The Miami Marlins have released starting pitcher Edinson Volquez from his contract. He had one year remaining on his current deal with the team.
He joined the Marlins for the 2017 season and went 4-8 with a 4.19 earned-run average and 81 strikeouts in 17 games pitched. Volquez helped the Kansas City Royals win their first World Series in 30 years back in 2015 with a 13-9 record.
