Former Miami Heat player Rasual Butler passed away on Wednesday along with his wife in a car accident in California. He was only 38 years old.
Butler was selected by the Heat in the 2002 NBA Draft during the second round with the 53rd overall pick. He was part of the young resurgence of the franchise along with Caron Butler and Dwyane Wade. Together they helped the club get to the 2005 Eastern Conference Finals where they lost to the Detroit Pistons in seven games.
He was sent to the New Orleans Hornets in a four-team trade after the 2004-05 season and the Heat acquired Jason Williams, Antoine Walker and James Posey. Butler later played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs in his 13-season NBA career.
