The Miami Heat were stopped by the New Orleans Pelicans 124-123 in overtime at Smoothie King Center on Friday. It was the first contest in nine days for the Heat due to the NBA All-Star Game break.
Miami(30-29) moved out to a 27-22 lead in the opening quarter and stayed ahead 59-57 at halftime. New Orleans(19-38) trailed 89-84 after three quarters and tied it 108-108 to send it into overtime. The Pelicans got a 16-15 scoring edge in the extra session as Jrue Holiday put in a last-second field goal.
Goran Dragic compiled 30 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Heat. Hassan Whiteside completed a double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds while Dwyane Wade contributed 16 points. Anthony Davis piled on 45 points and 17 reboiunds for the Pelicans and Holiday dropped in 29 points.
