The Orlando Magic edged the Miami Heat 111-109 at American Airlines Arena on Monday night. The Heat, who came off a four-game road trip, have lost four straight games and six of their last eight contests. The Magic came into the battle with the worst record in the National Basketball Association.
Miami(29-25) busted out to a 35-26 advantage after one quarter and stayed on top 60-59 at halftime. Orlando(16-36) overcame and took a 93-87 lead after three quarters and held on in the final minute of the game.
Hassan Whiteside nailed a double-double for the Heat with 19 points and 14 rebounds and Bam Adebayo compiled 18 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Richardson had a team-high 20 points and Justise Winslow dropped in 16 points with seven rebounds. Mario Hezonja composed 20 points while D. J. Augustin drained 16 points for the Magic. Jonathon Simmons was able to score 16 points.
