Former Miami Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki has signed a contract to play with the Seattle Mariners. The Marlins outfield will be different for the upcoming 2018 season as they have lost him along with trading Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna and Christian Yelich.
Ichiro played the past three seasons with the Marlins and passed the 3,000 hit mark with the club. Prior to his stop in Miami, he was with the New York Yankees for three seasons.
He began in Major League Baseball with the Mariners in 2001 where he won the American League Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player Awards. Ichiro helped the team to a league-record 116 wins and the American League West Division title. He led the American League with hits seven times in his 12 years with Seattle.
