The Miami/Fort Lauderdale market had Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM as the leader of local sports format radio stations for the second straight month. All three local competitors seemed not to change in the period.
The Ticket remained at a 0.9 during the period. The acquisition by the Miami Heat of Dwyane Wade certainly created a social buzz even though the team had a bad stretch of losing seven of eight games. The station also added Miami Hurricanes baseball broadcasts.
Miami Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM stayed the same with a 0.8 in February. The Florida Panthers had one of best records in the National Hockey League during the month as they won nine of 12 games. Ryan Maguire left that station as program director and was replaced by The Ticket program director Len Weiner.
Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM dropped to a 0.2 after two months with a 0.3 mark. The end of the NFL season and the loss of syndicated NFL football games from Westwood One did hurt.
