The New York Mets extended their winning streak to eight games with a 4-1 victory over the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park on Wednesday night. Marlins starting pitcher Jarlin Garcia had a no-hitter when he was pulled from the game after six innings.
The only scoring early in the contest was done by Miami(3-9) during the bottom of the first. Miguel Rojas nailed a solo home run to left field on a 2-0 pitch against Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler.
New York(10-1) rallied with a four-run outburst in the eighth inning. Pinch-hitter Adrian Gonzalez singled into center field to bring home Kevin Plawecki and Michael Conforto with one out. Two batters later, Wilmer Flores socked a ball to deep left-center for a double which scored Gonzalez. After Yoenis Cespedes was intentionally walked, Todd Frazier knocked in Flores with a sacrifice fly to center.
