The Philadelphia Phillies routed the Miami Marlins 20-1 on Saturday night at Citizens Bank Park. It was the second road game for the Fish and the second home game for the Phils this season.
Both clubs combined for an explosive first inning. Miami(2-6) made it 1-0 when Derek Dietrich scored on a throwing error by a Jorge Alfaro throwing error.
Philadelphia(3-4) answered quickly in the bottom of the frame. Cesar Hernandez walked, Carlos Santana singled to right field and Scott Kingery got a base hit into right to load the bases. Rhys Hoskins walked to score Hernandez. Two batters later, Maikel Franco blasted a grand-slam home run to left-center field on a 2-2 pitch to give the Phillies a 5-1 lead.
The Phillies put the game away in the third inning to make it 9-1. Marlins starting pitcher Dillon Peters surrendered another grand-slam homer on a 1-2 count to Aaron Altherr.
