The Miami Marlins fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 on Thursday at Busch Stadium. The Fish had their two-game win streak halted. The Marlins completed a 10-game road trip and finished a stretch in which they played 16 of 19 games on the road.
In the first inning, St. Louis(33-27) pulled out to a 2-0 lead. Jose Martinez powered a two-run homer to left field on a 2-1 count with Tommy Pham scoring in front of him.
Miami(22-40) got their only tally during the top of the sixth. Justin Bour knocked in Starlin Castro with a double into center field.
Former Marlin Marcell Ozuna extended the Cards margin in the bottom of the frame. He singled to left and brought home Pham.
The Redbirds picked up an insurance run in the seventh inning. Luke Voit connected with a solo home run to left field on a 1-2 pitch.
