The Miami Marlins continued their 10-game road swing and were pounded by the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-1 at Chase Field on Friday night. The Marlins have lost 10 of their last 13 games.
Arizona(29-27) slowly built a big lead during the first three innings. David Peraltz singled to left field to scored Daniel Descalso in the first. Desclso lifted a two-run homer to right field in the second inning on a 2-0 pitch.
Jake Lamb added a solo home run to left on a 2-1 count in the third. Three batters later, Peralta followed with a solo shot to left on a 3-2 pitch.
In the fifth inning, John Ryan Murphy slammed a two-run homer to left center on the first pitch. Ketel Marte later added a solo home run on a 2-2 count to left-center field to make it 8-0.
Miami(20-37) garnered their only run of the contest in the top of the seventh. Lewis Brinson knocked in Derek Dietrich with a base hit into shallow center field.
The D-Backs concluded the game in the eighth. Marte connected with his second solo homer of the game on a 1-2 pitch.
