The San Francisco Giants were unable to hold on to a four-run margin as the Miami Marlins came back to win 5-4 at AT&T Park on Monday night. It was the fourth game of a nine-game road trip for the Fish.
San Francisco(35-38) rolled off three runs in the second inning. Joe Panik knocked in Buster Posey on a single to center field. Pablo Sandoval followed with a two-run homer to left-center field on a 1-0 pitch.
The Giants made it 4-0 during the bottom of the third. Mac Williamson drove in Andrew McCutchen on a base hit to left.
In the fifth inning, Miami(29-44) stormed back. Miguel Rojas hit a single into left field to score Cameron Maybin and Lewis Brinson.
The Marlins put up a fight in the top of the ninth and moved ahead with three runs. J.T. Realmuto connected on a double into the left-center field gap and Brian Anderson crossed the plate. Three batters later, Brinson lined a single to right field that brought in Realmuto. Rojas came up next and looped a base hit near the right-field line to bring in Maybin for a 5-4 lead.
