The St. Louis Cardinals overcame the Miami Marlins 3-2 on Tuesday night at Marlins Park. The Fish have fallen in seven of their last eight games.
Miami(47-68) broke out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Justin Bour knocked in Derek Dietrich with a single into center field.
The Marlins made it a two-run gap during the bottom of the fifth. Miguel Rojas singled to left field for J.T. Riddle to score.
St. Louis(59-55) bounced back in the seventh to tie the contest. Paul DeJong cracked a two-run homer to left field on a 0-1 count which brought in Jedd Gyorko.
The Cardinals took their first lead in the top of the eighth. Matt Carpenter came up and ripped a solo home run to right field on a 3-2 pitch.
