The Miami Dolphins dropped the New York Jets 20-12 at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. The Miami Dolphins climbed to first place in the AFC East Division with the victory.
Miami(2-0) did all their scoring in the first half. Running back Kenyan Drake rushed up the middle from six yards out with 1:16 left in the first quarter.
The Dolphins reached the end zone twice late in the second. Quarterback Ryan Tannenhill found wide receiver Albert Wilson for a 29-yard touchdown at the 4:19. Tannenhill connected a 19-yard touchdown pass to tight end A.J. Derby with 46 seconds left in the quarter for a 20-0 lead.
New York(1-1) got their only touchdown in the contest as quarterback Sam Donald tossed the ball to running back Bilal Powell on a 28-yard play at 11:58 of the third quarter.
The Jets cut the deficit more in the fourth quarter, however they fell short. Jason Myers kicked a 55-yard field goal with 10:11 to go and added a 41-yard field goal with 6:00 remaining.
