The Miami Central Rockets challenge the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders on Friday night at Brian Piccolo Stadium. It is a matchup between two of the best football programs in Dade County and Broward County.
Miami Central(3-1) have scored at least 40 points in their three wins this season. They topped Cardinal Gibbons 48-21, beat Booker T. Washington 41-5, lost in five overtimes to St. John's 37-34 and pounded Edison 41-0.
Quarterback Maurice Underwood will dictate the pace for the Rockets offense. They have a powerful backfield with running backs Lexington Joseph and Kejon Owens. Wide receiver Anthony Colonel is expected to be the primary target for Underwood on pass receptions.
St. Thomas Aquinas(4-0) have outscored opponents 187-6 this year and have not been pushed to their brink. They blanked DeMatha 38-0, handled Piper 35-6, shut out Flanagan 62-0 and Stranahan 52-0.
The Raiders have Curt Casteel at quarterback and a rushing attack of running backs Daniel Carter and Nigel White. Casteel looks to connect passes downfield with a wide receiver core that consists of Jamal Cooney, Xavier Restrepo, Marcus Rosemy and Jahvante Royal.
