The Charlotte Hornets got by the Miami Heat 113-112 at American Airlines Arena on Saturday night. It was the final home opener for Dwyane Wade in his 16-season NBA career.
Charlotte(2-1) got up 34-29 after the first quarter and picked up the pace during the second and had a 20-point lead 72-52 at halftime. Miami(1-2) slowly cut the deficit and were down 92-82 after three quarters. The Heat came close to taking the lead in the final minute of the contest, however they fell short.
Wade felt the impact of the home opener as he led the Heat with 21 points. Goran Dragic drained in 20 points while Rodney McGruder contributed a double-double with 19 points along with 10 rebounds. Hassan Whiteside had his own double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds. Kemba Walker had a game-high 39 points and seven assists for the Hornets.
