The Miami Dolphins were edged by the Indianapolis Colts 27-24 on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Fins have lost two straight games and six of their last eight games.
Miami(5-6) got ahead at the 12:22 mark. Quarterback Ryan Tannenhill tossed a 33-yard touchdown pass to the right side for running back Kenyan Drake.
Indianapolis(6-5) came back on scored on the next possession. Quarterback Andrew Luck threw a 14-yard pass to tight end Eric Ebron on the right side of the end zone at 9:37. Luck has now thrown a touchdown pass for 34 consecutive games.
In the second quarter, the Colts moved in front 14-7 with 1:44 left. Luck found wide receiver Jack Doyle in the middle from one yard away. The Fins answered back 44 seconds later when Tannenhill connected a 74-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Leonte Carroo to tie the game.
The Fins took the lead 17-14 at 9:14 of the third quarter. Jason Sanders was able to kick a 29-yard field goal. They made it 24-14 early in the fourth at the 13:36 mark. Drake raced up the middle and scored from 14 yards out.
Indy made a comeback later in the quarter to win the contest. Adam Vinatieri booted a 46-yard field goal with 8:27 to go and closed the margin to seven points. Ebron later caught a 12-yard touchdown pass on the right side from Luck with 4:25 remaining. Vinatieri got a game-winning 32-yard field goal with no time remaining to give Indianapolis the victory.
