The Miami Hurricanes handled the Pittsburgh Panthers 24-3 at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday. It was a revenge game for the Canes after losing the regular season finale last year in Pittsburgh. Pitt will play next week in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game against Clemson.
Bubba Baxa kicked a 37-yard field goal for the Hurricanes at 10:17 of the first quarter. DeeJay Dallas returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown with 9:08 left in the first half to give Miami(7-5, 4-4) a 10-0 lead.
Pittsburgh(7-5, 6-2), the Coastal Division champions, got their only score at the 3:27 mark of the third quarter. Alex Kessman booted a 40-yard field goal and they trailed 10-3.
The Hurricanes extended their margin less than a minute later at 2:49. Running back Travis Homer, a Oxbridge Academy grad, raced up the middle and reached the end zone from 64 yards out.
In the fourth quarter, Miami put up final points of the contest to make it 24-3. Dallas rushed to the left side for a three-yard touchdown with 10:58 remaining.
