LeBron James made his return to Miami and scored 51 points as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Heat 113-97 at American Airlines Arena on Sunday night. His former teammates in Miami Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem did not play in the game. James won his first game in Miami after losing seven straight games in his second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
It was the second straight season the Los Angeles defeated the Heat in Miami. They had lost their previous eight games held in South Florida. The Lakers have won five of the last 19 meetings between both clubs.
Los Angeles(9-7) started the contest on an 11-4 spurt and were ahead 34-21 after the first quarter. They still had a 15-point margin 67-52 at halftime. Miami(6-10) could not get any traction during the second half and they trailed 92-76 after three quarters.
Wayne Ellington poured in a team-high 19 points for the Heat while Josh Richardson and Tyler Johnson both had 17 points each. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope put in 19 points for Los Angeles.
