The Palm Beach Central Broncos visit Butler Stadium and take on the Deerfield Beach Bucks on Friday night in a Class 8A regional final. Both teams captured district titles during the regular season.
Palm Beach Central(11-1) have won 11 consecutive games since losing their season opener to Atlantic. The Broncos have not allowed more than 14 points in a game and have compiled five shutouts this year. They dropped district rival Wellington 44-14 in the regional quarterfinal and blanked Western 38-0 in the regional semifinal last week. They have outscored their opponents 359-85 this season.
The Broncos can implement Mike Moreland or Anarjahe Douriet at quarterback depending on the situation. Running backs C.J. Stewart, Da'quan Hamilton, Tyler Willis and Derrick Cruickhank will get their rushing opportunities. Wide receivers Gen'Taris Oliver, Bryan Robinson, De'angelo Pompey, Kai Rosado and Kaishawn Curry look to get open down the field for passes.
Deerfield Beach(11-1) had one blemish during the regular season which was a Week 7 loss at home against St. Thomas Aquinas. They have outscored their opponents 385-112 this year. The Bucks have shut out their opponent in three of the last four contests entering this game. They survived Miramar 32-14 in a regional quarterfinal and shut out Plantation 23-0 last week in a regional semifinal.
Running back Jaylan Knighton leads the Bucks offense. He will get just about all of their rushing attempts from the backfield and he can score on any play. They have Tyler Herring in the quarterback position. He intends to pass the ball off to wide receivers Deajaun McDougle, Dashaun Davis, DeRohn King and Bryce Gowdy for completions.
