The Deerfield Beach Bucks host the Plantation Colonels on Friday night in a Class 8A regional semifinal at Butler Stadium. Both Broward County teams won district championships this season.
Plantation(10-1) won District 12 with the highest playoff points to break the three-way tie. The Colonels enter this contest on a four-game winning streak and have outscored their opponents 396-88 this season. They defeated former local rival Piper 23-12 last week.
Deerfield Beach(10-1) were undefeated until a home loss to St. Thomas Aquinas in Week 7. The Bucks finished the regular season with back-to-back shutouts. They held off Miramar 32-14 last week and have outscored opponents 352-112 this year.
The Bucks will rely on running back Jaylan Knighton for the majority of their rushing attack. He has the capability to score on any running play. Their core of wide receivers can have an impact with Deajaun McDougle, Dashaun Davis, Bryce Gowdy and DeRohn King catching the ball from quarterback Tyler Herring.
