Dade County had their share of players make their selections where they will attend college. Many of the top personnel in the county made their decisions.
The two-time defending FHSAA Class 6A state champions Miami Northwestern had several players. They had linebacker Samuel Brooks(Miami), wide receiver Jacquez Stuart(Toledo), defensive lineman Calijah Kancey(Pittsburgh), defensive back Larry Robbins(Buffalo), linebacker Leslie Smith(Pittsburgh) and former Bulls player/current JUCO linebacker Caliph Brice picked FAU.
Miami Central had some of their top offensive players decide. They consisted of quarterback Maurice Underwood(Marshall), running back Lexington Joseph(FIU) and offensive lineman Maurice Smith(Florida State).
Carol City had several players who were part of the Chiefs Class 6A state title team in 2016. They included quarterback Daniel Richardson(Central Michigan), running back Nay'Quan Wright(Florida), wide receiver Amari Johnson(Central Florida), defensive back Jarvis Brownlee(Florida State), defensive lineman Malcolm Ray(Florida State) and offensive lineman Wardrick Wilson(Florida).
Columbus made it to the Class 8A state title game this year and had an array of players going to the next level. It includes wide receiver Kalani Norris(Georgia Tech), wide receiver Gary Cooper(Indiana), defensive lineman Jeramy Passamore(Indiana) and offensive lineman Luis Cristobal(Georgia State).
The 2016 Class 8A state champions Miami Southridge had linebacker Diamante Howard choose FAU, South Dade wide receiver Frank Ladson Jr. selected Clemson, Miami Palmetto linebacker Eddie Williams decided FAU, Booker T. Washington wide receiver Kevin Butler picked UT Martin and Miami Palmetto defensive back Cornelius Nunn went with Syracuse.
