Longtime Miami Heat television play-by-play announcer Eric Reid has been named the recipient of the Florida Sportscaster of the Year Award from the National Sports Media Association. It is the second straight year that Reid has received this honor.
Reid, an Ithaca College grad, has been a broadcaster with the Miami Heat since their first season in 1988-89. He is currently in his 31st season with the organization.
Following his work of announcing sporting events for Cornell University and Providence College, he landed in South Florida as the game analyst alongside television/radio play-by-play announcer Sam Smith. Reid was promoted to the television play-by-play announcer position prior to the 1991-92 season.
