The Florida Panthers handled the Nashville Predators 4-2 at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday night. The Panthers have won in back-to-back games following a seven-game winless streak. Florida picked up their 800th victory in franchise history.
The first period belonged to Florida(19-20-8). Aaron Ekblad scored a Panthers franchise record 62nd career goal as a defenseman while on the power play at 4:05. He surpassed Robert Svehla to break the record.
Frank Vatrano made it 2-0 with 6:44 to go in the period. It was the second straight game that he has put in a tally.
Vincent Trocheck increased to a three-goal lead for the Panthers at the 2:59 mark of the second period. It was the second game back in the lineup for Trocheck since he was injured in Ottawa on November 19.
Nashville(28-18-4) closed in with two goals in the third. Nick Bonino scored at 2:45 and Austin Watson had a goal at 3:23.
Jared McCann gave Florida some breathing space with 9:22 remaining for a 4-2 lead. Colton Sceviour compiled his second assist of the game.
