The Florida Panthers lost to the Dallas Stars 4-2 at American Airlines Center on Tuesday night. It was the final game of a four-game Western Conference road trip for the Panthers.
Florida(32-29-12) wasted no time and make it 1-0 just 2:11 into the first period. Aleksander Barkov scored on a Jonathan Huberdeau assist. It was the 56th assist for Huberdeau this season while Barkov extended his point streak to seven games.
The contest was tied 1-1 by Dallas(38-29-6) with 2:11 left in the first. Tyler Seguin went to the end wall and centered the puck. Alexander Radulov one-time shot was saved by Sam Montembeault, however Jamie Benn put in the rebound with a forehand at the top of the crease for his 27th goal of the campaign.
In the second period, the Stars moved out in front on the power play at the 10:38 mark. John Klingberg notched his 10th goal of the year on assists from Roope Hintz and Seguin.
The Panthers answered back with their tally with the man advantage with 3:03 remaining in the second. Barkov picked up his second goal of the contest and 13th goal in the last 17 games when he snapped a shot from the left circle past Ben Bishop. Keith Yandle and Vincent Trocheck were credited with assists on the play. Yandle got his 57th point of the season which tied the franchise mark with Robert Svehla back in 1995-96. He also tied Olli Jokinen for first place with his 37th power-play point of the season.
The Cats were unable to clear their zone and Dallas capitalized with 9:28 to go in the third period for a 3-2 lead. Seguin caught the puck at the left point and angled it to Benn above the left circle. He skated by Aaron Ekblad in the left circle, connected a cross-ice pass through the low slot and Radulov slapped in a one-time shot from the low right circle for his 23rd goal.
Radulov would add an open-net goal with 39.9 seconds left for a two-goal margin. Seguin got his fourth assist of the game as he set the play up.
