The Chicago Cubs swept the Miami Marlins with a 6-0 win at Marlins Park on Wednesday night. The Marlins, who have lost 13 of their last 15 games, were shut out for the second straight game and outscored 17-2 in the three-game series with the Cubs.
Chicago(8-9) got in front 1-0 in the second inning. Daniel Descalso knocked in Wilson Contreras with a base hit into left field.
The Cubs piled on four runs in the top of the third to make it 5-0. Javier Baez singled into right field for Kris Bryant to score. Jason Heyward came up next and drove in Baez with a single to left field. Descalso hurt the Fish again on a double to deep left field that had Heyward and Contreras cross the plate.
In the eighth inning, Miami(4-15) surrendered another tally. Javier Baez sliced a 3-2 pitch over the right-field wall for a six-run margin.
