Miami Heat television play-by-play announcer Eric Reid missed calling the Heat and Boston Celtics contest on Wednesday night at American Airlines Arena due to the flu. He did miss another home game back on February 6, 2013 against the Houston Rockets because of a death in the family. Jason Jackson was able to fill in for him on Wednesday like he did in 2013.
Reid, an Ithaca College grad, has been part of the broadcasting team since the inception of the Miami Heat franchise in 1988-89. He was the game analyst on a television and radio simulcast alongside Sam Smith for the first three seasons. Reid was elevated to the television play-by-play announcer position in 1991-92. The Heat have captured three NBA championships and five Eastern Conference titles in their history.
