The Miami Marlins were defeated by the Cleveland Indians 7-4 on Tuesday night at Marlins Park. Both clubs met each other in Cleveland last week for two contests.
Miami(8-21) scored in the first inning. Brian Anderson singled into left field for Martin Prado to score.
It was a quick response by Cleveland(16-12) in the top of the second. Carlos Santana blasted a solo home run to right-center field on a 2-2 pitch for his third homer of the year. Jake Bauers later hit a sacrifice fly to left which brought in Carlos Gonzalez for a 2-1 lead.
The Marlins moved in front in the bottom of the frame. Sandy Alcantara performed a sacrifice bunt to third and Miguel Rojas crossed the plate. Prado would knock in Isaac Galloway with a base hit into left field.
The Tribe compiled four runs in the third inning for a 6-3 gap. Santana lined a single to center and Francisco Lindor scored. Gonzalez followed with a three-run homer over the right-center field fence on a 1-0 count.
The Fish added one run during the bottom of the fourth. Curtis Granderson powered a solo homer to right field on a 1-0 pitch for his fourth home run of the season.
Cleveland extended their lead in the eighth inning. Bauers scored on a sacrifice fly to center field by Mike Freeman.
