The Chicago Cubs knocked off the Miami Marlins 4-1 at Wrigley Field on Thursday. It was the final game of a four-game series between both clubs. The Cubs have won 10 of their last 11 games and the Marlins have lost six of their last seven contests.
There was scoring in the first inning for the fourth straight game. Chicago(22-13) compiled two runs in the opening frame. Kris Bryant crushed a solo home run to left field on the first pitch. Albert Almora later drove in Javier Baez with a base hit into left.
Miami(10-27) got their only tally during the top of the fourth. Peter O'Brien scored on a Rosell Herrera single to right field.
The Cubs extended their margin to 4-1 in the fifth inning. Anthony Rizzo smashed the first pitch over the center-field wall for a two-run homer and Bryant crossed the plate on the play. It was the 10th home run for Rizzo this season.
