The Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs visit the American Heritage Stallions in Delray Beach on Friday night at The Corral. It is a battle between two small-school football programs.
Cardinal Gibbons(3-1), the defending FHSAA Class 5A state champions, were shifted to Class 4A for the 2019 season and have won 16 of their last 17 contests. After a season-opening loss to Miami Northwestern 32-0, they have rebounded well. The Chiefs had three straight home victories over Miami Palmetto 23-21, North Miami 50-0 and Fort Lauderdale 41-16. Quarterback Brody Palhegyi will guide the team down the field.
American Heritage(2-1) looks to make a big playoff push in Class 3A this year. The Stallions almost snapped the long home winning streak of Vero Beach and were edged 7-3 in the season opener. They have dominated in their last two games at home with wins over Coral Springs Charter 42-9 and John Carroll 42-7. Zachary Bohannon will call the signals for them on offense.
