The Deerfield Beach Bucks dominated the Boca Raton Bobcats 49-6 at Butler Stadium in a District 12-8A game on Friday night. Former Boca Raton quarterback Michael Pratt played against his former school for the first time since he transferred during the summer.
It was the first that both teams faced each other in a district contest. Both squads had recently played in Class 8A in different districts because the Bobcats played district schools in Palm Beach County and the Bucks faced opponents from Broward County.
Deerfield Beach(4-2, 1-0) scored immediately 36 seconds into the first quarter. Running back Jaylan Knighton rushed in the ball for a touchdown. He had three carries for 80 yards on their first possession.
Boca Raton(2-3, 0-1) were able to keep up with 4:02 to go in the first. The Bobcats scored on a 10-yard pass play, however they missed on the extra point and were down 7-6.
The Bucks would put up 42 unanswered points. They made it 14-6 at the 6:18 mark of the second quarter. Wide receiver Deajaun McDougle caught a short pass from Pratt and sprinted in from 82 yards away. One minute later, defensive back Phillip O'Brien intercepted a pass and returned it 63 yards for a score.
It became a 28-6 lead for Deerfield Beach with 40 seconds remaining in the first half. Pratt connected a 20-yard pass to wide receiver Xavier Restrepo.
In the third quarter, Pratt found McDougle twice more for touchdowns. He threw a 52-yard pass at 8:48 and a 58-yard strike at the 2:08 mark.
