The Philadelphia Phillies shelled the Miami Marlins 9-3 at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday night. Both clubs will play their final games of the 2019 regular season on Sunday.
Philadelphia(81-80), who guaranteed that they will not end up with a losing record in 2019, compiled six runs in the first three innings for a six-run margin over Miami(56-105). Cesar Hernandez stroked a lead-off solo home run on a 2-1 count to left during the first inning while Maikel Franco added a two-run shot over the left-center field wall in the second.
The Phillies put the contest away in the sixth inning as they increased their lead to 9-1. Bryce Harper sliced a three-run homer to left field on a 1-2 pitch for his 35th home run of the season and chalked up his 114th RBI.
