The Miami Hurricanes shocked the Virginia Cavaliers 17-9 at Hard Rock Stadium on Friday night. Virginia was ranked 20th in the nation prior to this contest.
Miami(3-3, 1-2) moved in front 7-0 at 9:35 of the first quarter. Quarterback N'Kosi Perry tossed a 17-yard pass to running DeeJay Dallas.
There was only one scoring play for the Cavaliers in the second quarter. Brian Delaney kicked a 25-yard field goal with five seconds left in the first half.
Virginia(4-2, 2-1) cut the gap to 7-6 just six seconds into the fourth quarter as Delaney nailed a 21-yard field goal. The Canes matched it at the 10:38 when Turner Davidson kicked his first career field goal from 19 yard out.
The Cavs again found themselves down by one point with 7:58 remaining. Delaney booted his third field goal of the game from 44 yards.
The Hurricanes took a 17-9 lead with 2:37 to go. Perry was able to sprint up the middle from three yards away.
