The Columbus Explorers host the Miami Stingarees at Tropical Park on Thursday night in a Class 8A clash. It will be the first regional semifinal contest to be played in South Florida.
Miami(8-3) has won their last three games and outscored their last three opponents 130-3. They defeated Stoneman Douglas 28-3 in Parkland last week. Quarterback Makai Lovett intends to guide the Stingarees down the field. He can connect passes to wide receivers Ja'ki Chatman, Samurie Dukes and Natron Pruitt. Running back Joshua Gordon will see some rushing attempts.
Columbus(7-4) opened up their postseason with a 50-14 win over district rival Coral Gables. The Class 8A state finalist have an average margin of victory of 24 points in their last three games. The Explorers will depend on their rushing attack with running back Henry Bryant Jr. getting the majority of carries. Explorers quarterback Brandon McDuffey can find wide receivers Xzavier Henderson, Trynyty Conway, Christopher Gilbert, Jahvar McSween and Ken Moore downfield.
