The Miami Marlins made several acquisitions on Monday. They received infielder Jonathan Villar from the Baltimore Orioles for pitcher Easton Lucas. The Fish also picked up first baseman Jesus Aguilar on waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays.
Villar has played the last couple of seasons with the Orioles. He was in all 162 games for Baltimore in 2019 and chalked up 24 home runs, 73 runs batted in and a .274 batting average. Villar was with the Milwaukee Brewers until he was traded to the Orioles in a four-player deal on July 31, 2018.
Aguilar was best known for helping Milwaukee win the National League Central Division in 2018. He had 35 home runs, 108 runs batted in and a .274 batting average with the Brewers that season. Aguilar was traded from Milwaukee to Tampa Bay on July 30, 2019. He had 12 home runs and 50 runs batted in last season with the combined two clubs.
