The Miami Heat played for the second straight night at home and lost to the Boston Celtics 109-101 on Tuesday night at American Airlines Arena. The Heat, who fell at home for just the third time this season, finished off a five-game home stand and will not play again until Saturday in Orlando. The Celtics are now a half game behind the Heat for third place in the Eastern Conference.
The end of the first quarter had Boston(31-15) up 36-28, however Miami(32-15) went on a 15-6 run to begin the second to take their only lead of the contest 44-42. The C's were still ahead 53-48 by halftime. The Heat tried to come back and were down 80-76 after three quarters. The Celtics went on a 12-5 spurt to start the fourth and pulled away.
Bam Adebayo put together a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds for Miami. Goran Dragic drained in 23 points while Jimmy Butler contributed 20 points. Gordon Hayward compiled a game-high 29 points with nine rebounds for Boston and Jaylen Brown had 25 points.
