The Miami Marlins are expected to sign pitcher Pat Venditte to a minor-league contract. He will be invited to spring training camp in Jupiter.
Venditte has a skill that no pitcher in professional baseball has. He can throw with both his right arm and left arm. Major League Baseball created a new rule that Venditte had to indicate which arm he would throw the ball with prior to any at-bat.
He has played four seasons in the majors. Venditte made two appearances with the San Francisco Giants last year. He has played in 58 MLB games and never started a game.
