Former Florida Panthers center Kevyn Adams has been named the new general manager of the Buffalo Sabres. He was elevated from senior vice president of business operations with that team. The club also let go assistant general manager Randy Sexton, who was once the general manager of the Florida Panthers.
Adams had a 11-year career in the National Hockey League and was known for his winning faceoff percentage. He was acquired by the Panthers from the Columbus Blue Jackets on March 13, 2001 for Ray Whitney.
He stayed with Florida for the bulk of two seasons and compiled 21 points in 56 games. Adams was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes along with Brett Hedican in a five-player deal on January 16, 2002. He participated in two Stanley Cup Finals and won a Stanley Cup with the Canes in 2006.
