Tiz The Law won the 152nd Belmont Stakes in Belmont, New York on Saturday. The horse had captured the 2020 Florida Derby in Hallandale back on March 28. Tiz The Law, who won for the fifth time in six races, became the first New York-bred horse to win the Belmont Stakes since Forester in 1882.
The Belmont Stakes for the first time ever was the initial race of the Triple Crown. The Kentucky Derby and The Preakness were postponed to a later date because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Florida Panthers owner Vincent Viola had a horse compete in the Belmont Stakes. Dr. Post finished second in the race.
