Former Florida Panthers center Stu Barnes will remain a scout with the Seattle Kraken, the newest team in the National Hockey League. He was named a scout by the club last year and had his contract extended from June 30 to the end of the 2019-20 NHL season. Barnes is the co-owner of the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League which is based in Kennewick, Washington.
Barnes was with the Panthers for four seasons and helped the club win the 1996 Eastern Conference championship over the Pittsburgh Penguins. They lost to the Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Finals. He also played for the Winnipeg Jets, Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres and Dallas Stars during his 16-season NHL career.
