Former WZTA-FM morning host Rickie Ricardo has worked the last eight games at the New York Yankees Radio Network heard on Fox Sports 640 South Florida WMEN-AM. He has filled in as the play-by-play announcer for John Sterling over the past week. Sterling had not missed a combined total of three contests during his 31-year tenure with the club prior to the substitution.
Ricardo went by the name Rickie Santana when he worked in Miami radio. He will continue as the Spanish language radio voice of the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Eagles when Sterling returns to the broadcast booth. Ricardo called the Philadelphia Phillies in Spanish from 2007 to 2013 and the Yankees since 2014.
