Former local high school and college football player Phillip Dorsett will be signing a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. It is expected to be a one-year deal between him and the club. He played last season with the Seattle Seahawks
Dorsett participated in high school football with the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders. He helped them win a two FHSAA Class 5A state titles and two national championships in 2008 and 2010. Dorsett landed at the University of Miami for four years as he compiled 121 catches for 2,132 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns in 43 games.
He was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in 2015 NFL Draft as the 29th overall pick. Dorsett lasted two seasons and was traded to the New England Patriots for former Dwyer quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Dorsett was on the Patriots when they won Super Bowl LIII.
