Canadiens Claim Sam Montembeault

     The Montreal Canadiens have claimed goalie Sam Montembeault off waivers from the Florida Panthers. The Panthers also placed forward Zac Dalpe and defenseman Noah Juulsen on the waiver wire, however they were not claimed by any National Hockey League club. 

     Montembeault was taken in the second round of the 2015 NHL Draft and made his NHL debut with Florida during the 2018-19 season. He had a 9-8-3 record with the team over two seasons and participated in 25 games. Montembeault helped the Cats reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2019-20. He did not play in one contest last season with the Panthers and spent the entire campaign with Syracuse in the American Hockey League.
