The Florida Panthers have acquired defenseman Ben Chiarot from the Montreal Canadiens. The Cats sent prospect Ty Smilanic, Florida's 2023 first-round selection and a 2022 fourth-round pick the Panthers just got from the New York Rangers in the Frank Vatrano deal earlier today. The Habs will retain 50 percent of Chiarot's salary for the rest of the 2021-22 season.
Chiarot has been with the Canadiens for the past three seasons. He contributed to Montreal reaching the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1993. Chiarot has seven goals and 11 assists in 54 contests this season.
