Columbus Crew Clips Inter Miami CF
The Columbus Crew blanked Inter Miami CF 1-0 on Wednesday night at Lower.com Field. It was the second straight defeat for Inter Miami CF. Luis Diaz scored in the 64th minute for the Crew. Both clubs will face each other again on September 13 in Fort Lauderdale.
Marlins Swept By Rays
The Tampa Bay Rays slipped by the Miami Marlins 2-1 in 10 innings on Wednesday night at loanDepot park. Tampa Bay(72-57) was able to complete a four-game season sweep of Miami(55-75).
The Rays scored first in the top of the sixth to go up 1-0. Harold Ramirez doubled to left field for Yandy Diaz to cross the plate.
The Marlins responded very quickly during the bottom of the sixth. Jon Berti lifted a solo home run to left-center field on a 1-2 pitch for just his third homer of the year.
The game extended into extra innings. Tampa Bay picked up the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th. Manuel Margot drove in Yu Chang on a base hit to right field for a 2-1 lead.

Jeremy Loper Exits WRKZ-FM
Former local on-air radio personality Jeremy Loper is no longer the morning co-host at WRKZ-FM in Columbus. He worked there for over 10 years since April 2012.
Loper previously had two stints at WPBZ-FM in West Palm Beach. He was there from 1997 to 2002 and from 2008 until 2012. Loper also was a mixed martial arts podcast co-host on Fox Sports.com during the mid-2010s and became a television play-by-play announcer of Merger Of Alliance MMA and Iron Tiger Fight Series on CBS Sports Network beginning in June 2017.
Rays Bounce Marlins
The Tampa Bay Rays breezed by the Miami Marlins 7-2 at loanDepot park on Tuesday night. Tampa Bay(71-57) looks to sweep the four-game season series against their state rivals Miami(55-74) tomorrow.

Dodgers End Marlins
The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Miami Marlins 3-2 in 10 innings at loanDepot park on Monday night. It concluded the season series where the Dodgers took six of the seven contests. The Marlins were outscored 41-15 in those seven games.
The Marlins host the Tampa Bay Rays for two games beginning tomorrow. The Dodgers visit the Mets for a three-game series.
Miami(55-73) scooted out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Brian Anderson grounded out to second and Joey Wendle crossed the plate.
Los Angeles(89-38) leaped over the Marlins in the top of the third. Will Smith hammered a two-run homer on a 2-2 pitch for his 19th home run of the year. Freddie Freeman scored in front of him on the play.
The Fish tied it up 2-2 in the fourth inning. Lewin Diaz hit a single into shallow center field for Garrett Cooper to race home.
The Dodgers reclaimed the lead 3-2 in the top of the 10th. Freeman grounded into a force out and Cody Bellinger scored.
Miami Dolphins Release Sony Michel
The Miami Dolphins have let go running back Sony Michel. He signed a one-year deal worth $2.1 million contract with the club back in May.
Michel played high school football with the American Heritage Patriots. He helped them win their first football state title in school history with the FHSAA Class 5A state championship in 2013.
He played four years with the University of Georgia Bulldogs. He reached the CFP National Championship Game in 2017 and fell in overtime to the University of Alabama Crimson Tide.
Michel was drafted 31st overall by New England Patriots in 2018 NFL Draft and won Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams. After three seasons with the Patriots, he was traded to the Rams in August 2021 and captured another championship in Super Bowl LVI.

Ichiro Suzuki In Mariners Hall Of Fame
Former Miami Marlins outfieler Ichiro Suzuki was inducted into the Seattle Mariners Hall of Fame on Saturday. It was an on-field ceremony at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
Ichiro joined the Marlins from 2015 until 2017. He is best remembered on the team for collecting his 3,000th career base hit in the majors at Coors Field in Denver.
Jesus Aguilar Done With Marlins
Miami Marlins first baseman Jesus Aguilar has been released by the team. The organization placed him on waivers and was not claimed.
Aguilar spent the last three seasons with the Marlins. He helped the club reached the postseason for the third time in franchise history and first time since winning the 2003 World Series. Aguilar had 45 home runs, 176 runs batted in and a .747 OPS in 295 contests.
Dodgers Drop Marlins
The Los Angeles Dodgers handled the Miami Marlins 8-1 at loanDepot park on Sunday. The Dodgers extended their lead in the National League standings.
Los Angeles(88-38) have taken two of the three games of the wraparound series over Miami (55-72). Both clubs will finish the season series on Monday.

American Heritage Wallops Los Alamitos
The American Heritage Patriots ripped by the Los Alamitos Griffins 56-27 on Saturday at Brian Piccolo Stadium on the campus of St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale. It was a rare home game for the Patriots outside of Plantation because of the South Florida Showcase.
American Heritage(2-0) moved in front 7-0 at the 6:38 mark of the first quarter. Running back Mark Fletcher powered around through the left side to score. They expanded their lead to 14-0 with 4:52 remaining in the first. Fletcher plunged up the middle from one yard away.
Los Alamitos(0-2) bounced back with 1:59 to go in the quarter. Wide receiver Makai Lemon caught a seven-yard touchdown catch in the middle of the end zone from quarterback Malachi Nelson.
The Pats responded just one minute later for a 21-7 lead. Quarterback Blake Murphy fired a 25-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Brandon Inniss on the back right side of the end zone.
It became 28-7 for American Heritage with 2:31 left in the second quarter. Running back Byron Louis rushed up the middle from one yard out.
St. Thomas Aquinas Escapes St. Joseph's Prep
The St. Thomas Aquinas battled it out until the end to defeat the St. Joseph's Prep Hawks 48-37 at Brian Piccolo Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday. It was part of the South Florida Showcase with local high schools versus schools from out of the state.
St, Thomas Aquinas(1-0) will be looking to win their fourth consecutive FHSAA state championship for the first time in school history. They have been assigned to a new classification in Class 3M District 11. St, Joseph's Prep(0-1) looks to continue to be a powerhouse private high school football program in Eastern Pennsylvania.
New York Red Bulls Race By Inter Miami CF
The New York Red Bulls picked up a 3-1 victory over Inter Miami CF at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey on Saturday. It ended a two-game winning streak and a five-game unbeaten streak by Inter Miami CF.
It was the first contest of a three-game road trip for Inter Miami CF. They have a short break this week and visit the Columbus Crew on Wednesday night.
Marlins Stop Dodgers
The Miami Marlins pushed by the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 on Saturday at loanDepot park. It was the first win for Miami(55-71) in five games against Los Angeles(87-38) this season.
The Dodgers struck first in the top of the third to lead 1-0. Mookie Betts hammered a solo homer to left field on a 0-1 pitch for his 30th home run of the season.
The Marlins tied it up 1-1 in the fourth inning. Brian Anderson singled to left field and Jon Berti crossed the plate.
Miami took their only lead of the game during the bottom of the sixth. Jerar Encarnacion got a base hit through the left side and Joey Wendle scored.

Dodgers Outduel Marlins
The Los Angeles Dodgers outpaced the Miami Marlins 10-6 in 10 innings at loanDepot park on Friday night. Both teams faced each other last weekend in Los Angeles.
Miami(54-71) was coming off a six-game California road swing in which they had a 2-4 record. Los Angeles(87-37) finished off a homestand against the Milwaukee Brewers before flying cross-country to challenge the Fish.
The Dodgers got two runs in the top of the ninth to go ahead 5-4. The Marlins picked up one run in the bottom of the ninth to bring the contest to extra innings. Los Angles busted the game open with five runs in the top of the 10th. Miami could only muster one tally in the bottom of the frame.
Cardinal Gibbons Survives DeMatha Catholic
The South Florida Football Showcase involving some of the top Broward County teams against top high school football programs from outside of the state of Florida continued on Friday night. The Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs pulled off an 11-6 victory over the DeMatha Catholic Stags at Dr. Bud Tight Field in Fort Lauderdale.
Cardinal Gibbons(1-0) was able to get a field goal early in the first half to go up 3-0. The Chiefs defense helped out as they picked up a safety against DeMatha Catholic(0-1) for a five-point lead.
Palm Beach Gardens Outscores Atlantic
The Palm Beach Gators outdueled the Atlantic Eagles 39-38 in overtime at Atlantic Stadium in Delray Beach on Friday night. Both are considered two of the strongest high school football programs in Palm Beach County. Palm Beach Gardens is in Class 4M District 9 and Atlantic was slated for Class 3M District 9 this season.
The Eagles overtook the Gators with a 70-yard runback following a blocked Gators field goal at the end of the first half to take a 13-10 halftime lead. Atlantic(0-1) put up 19 unanswered points to extend their lead to 32-17. Palm Beach Gardens(1-0) tied the contest 32-32 with 47 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
The game would go to a Kansas tiebreaker in overtime. The Eagles found the end zone in their first overtime drive, however they had a bad snap on the extra point and settled for six points. The Gators matched it with a touchdown pass followed by an extra point for the victory.
Boynton Beach Takes Forest Hill
The Boynton Beach Tigers went seven miles north on I-95 and beat the Forest Hill Falcons 40-6 at Bobby Riggs Stadium on Friday night. The Tigers were able to get a three-touchdown margin and had a comfortable lead throughout the contest.
Boynton Beach(1-0) was assigned to Class 2M District 10 with the new classifications by the Florida High School Athletic Association this season. Forest Hill(0-1) was placed in Class 4M District 10.
Palm Beach Central Pounds Palm Beach Lakes
The Palm Beach Central Broncos blasted the Palm Beach Lakes Rams 80-0 on Friday night at Bronco Stadium. It was one of the largest margins of victory ever in Palm Beach County high school football history.
Palm Beach Central(1-0) jumped out to a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. A running clock was implemented for the entire second half.
It was a test for two large school teams in the West Palm Beach area. Palm Beach Central is in Class 4M District 10 while Palm Beach Lakes(0-1) is in Class 4M District 9 with the new FHSAA classifications.
Billy Hamilton Goes To Minnesota
It did not take long for outfielder Billy Hamilton to find a new team. He has signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins for the rest of the 2022 season.
Hamilton had a stint with the Miami Marlins until August 13. He compiled seven stolen bases and a .077 batting average in 15 plate appearance during 20 games.
New Dade County Football Districts
There are new districts and new classifications for Dade County high schools for the 2022 season. The Florida High School Athletic Assocation made major adjustments to high school football through the state in over a decade. The FHSAA had eight classifications from Class 8A down to Class 1A from 2011 until 2021.
Large schools in Dade County will be involved in two districts for Class 4M and four districts for Class 3M. Class 4M District 15 has Columbus, Doral Academy, Miami and Goleman. There are three high schools in Class 4M District 16 with Miami Palmetto, Coral Gables and South Dade.
Class 3M District 13 has Dr. Krop as the lone Dade County high school with South Broward, McArthur and Hollywood Hills. Dade County has just American in Class 3M District 14 competing against Miramar, Everglades and Pembroke Pines Charter.
Mater Academy, Hialeah, Miami Beach and North Miami will represent Class 3M District 15. 3M District 16 consists of Homestead, Belen Jesuit, Southridge and Southwest.
Many traditional Dade County high school football powerhouses are in Class 2M. District 13 includes Miami Central, Carol City, Miami Norland, Monsignor Pace and North Miami Beach. Class 2M District 14 is stacked with Miami Northwestern, Booker T. Washington, Miami Jackson, Miami Edison and LaSalle.
Class 2M District 15 have Miami Springs, Westland Hialeah and St. Brendan. Gulliver Prep, Miami Killian, South Miami and Somerset Academy Silver Palms are in Class 2M District 16.
Class 1M District 7 has Champagnat Catholic, Dade Christian, Florida Christian and True North Academy. Class 1M District 8 gets Westminster Christian, Palmer Trinity, Archbishop Carroll, Somerset Academy South Homestead and Palm Glades Prep Academy.
West Boca Raton Routs John I. Leonard
The West Boca Raton Bulls ran over the John I. Leonard Lancers 34-0 in Boca Raton on Thursday night. Both schools have been placed in the new classifications by the Florida High School Athletic Association.
West Boca Raton(1-0) will have the tough task of being in Class 3M District 10 with Broward County traditional high school football powerhouses Deerfield Beach, Blanche Ely and Coconut Creek. John I. Leonard(0-1) will have close proximity to their new local rivals Palm Beach Central, Wellington and Forest Hill in Class 4M District 10.
John Carroll Catholic Shocks Benjamin
The John Carroll Catholic Rams pulled off a mild upset of the Benjamin Buccaneers 24-21 in Palm Beach Gardens on Thursday night. It was just the second time in nine games that the Buccaneers lost to the Rams.
Benjamin(0-1) will be in the new FHSAA classification of Class 1M District 5 with Cardinal Newman and Sports Leadership & Management. John Carroll Catholic(1-0) is with Cardinal Mooney in Class 1S District 6.
Olympic Heights Handles Suncoast
The Olympic Heights Lions held off the Suncoast Chargers 14-12 on Thursday night at Corey Lewis Stadium. The Lions usually have the first high school football game to be played in Palm Beach County every year. Reasons include that they have participated in home games on Thursday nights for a decade and the shortage of game officials in Palm Beach County.
Olympic Heights(1-0) will be the only Palm Beach County high school in Class 4M District 12 with Coral Springs, Monarch and Stoneman Douglas of Broward County. Suncoast(0-1) was placed inside the new classification of Class 2M District 9 with Glades Central, The King's Academy and Inlet Grove.

High School Football Radio Broadcasts
For the eighth straight year, there will be only one local radio station in the South Florida area that will broadcast high school football games. ESPN West Palm 106.3 WUUB-FM has the distinction to announce contests during the 2022 season. Cy Wittig replaces current Fort Pierce Westwood head coach Chris Kokell as play-by-play announcer while Jimmie Bell returns as game analyst.
Some South Florida high school football games will be streamed on the internet by a couple of websites. The region once had five different radio stations broadcast high school football back in 2011.
Santaluces Downs Inlet Grove
The Santaluces Chiefs started a new era in their high school football program as they topped the Inlet Grove Hurricanes 32-20 on Thursday night. It was the first game for Santaluces(1-0) new head coach Hector Clavijo. He guided Champagnat Catholic to two FHSAA Class 2A state championships in 2019 and 2020 while at the helm in Miami.
Chiefs quarterback Will Prichard led the way for the Chiefs with four touchdown passes in the victory. Santaluces represents Class 4M District 11 in the new FHSAA classifications this season while Inlet Grove(0-1) is in Class 3M District 9.
Cardinal Newman Upends Pahokee
The 2022 high school football season began in Palm Beach County on Thursday night. The Cardinal Newman Crusaders went to The Muck and defeated the Pahokee Blue Devils 40-12 at Anquan Boldin Stadium.
The contest involved two of the best small schools in the county, based on the new classifications set by the Florida High School Athletic Association this year. Cardinal Newman(1-0) is in Class 1M District 5 while Pahokee(0-1) is in Class 1R Region 4.

Andrew Brewer Leaves Florida Panthers
Andrew Brewer has left the hockey operations department of the Florida Panthers. He worked as the team's video coach over the last two seasons.
He has joined the New Jersey Devils American Hockey League affiliate the Utica Comets. Brewer will work as an assistant coach.
Brewer worked for other National Hockey League teams prior to his arrival in Sunrise. He was a video coach with the Detroit Red Wings during the 2014-15 season and for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2015 until 2020.
A's Swing By Marlins
The Oakland A's breezed by the Miami Marlins 3-2 in 10 innings at RingCentral Stadium on Wednesday. Marlins starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo made his return to the Bay Area and faced his former team. He pitched seven innings and gave up two runs on three hits.
The Marlins could not pull off a three-game series sweep of the A's and finished the six-game California road trip with a 2-4 record. Miami returns home on Friday and hosts the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.
Oakland(46-79) broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth. Chad Pinder singled through the right side for Nick Allen and Shea Langeliers to score.
Miami(54-70) closed it to 2-1 in the top of the eighth. Miguel Rojas sliced a base hit into shallow right field and Peyton Burdick crossed the plate. Burdick picked up his first stolen base in the majors earlier in the frame.
The Marlins evened it up 2-2 in the ninth inning. Nick Fortes bashed a solo home run to left field on a 0-1 pitch for his seventh homer of the season.
The A's survived the contest with a walk-off win in the 10th inning. Skye Bolt hit a sacrifice fly to right-center field and David MacKinnon reached home.
Miami Marlins 2023 Schedule Released
The 2023 regular season schedule of the Miami Marlins was issued. Major League Baseball released the schedules of all 30 clubs for next season. It will the first time in Marlins history that they will play against every MLB team during the regular season.
Miami will open up the 2023 campaign against the New York Mets on March 30. It will mark the 30th anniversary of the team in the National League and Major League Baseball.
The Marlins will face every American League team in 2023. They will host the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, Houston Astros, Oakland A's, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins. They will visit the Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Guardians, Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners.
The Fish will celebrate Jackie Robinson Day(April 15). Mother's Day(May 14), Juneteenth(June 19) and Roberto Clemente Day(September 15) at home at loanDepot park in Miami. Weekday night games will start at 6:40 P.M. while Saturday games will be shifted to 4:10 P.M.
New Broward County Football Districts
There will be new classifications and new districts for Broward County high schools for the 2022 campaign. FHSAA has implemented a procedure to put schools by population size and close proximity.
There will two Class 4M districts in Broward County. Class 4M District 13 has Western, Cypress Bay, Taravella and Coral Glades. District 14 gets Flanagan, Cooper City, Somerset Academy and West Broward.
Broward County has four districts for Class 3M. District 11 has St. Thomas Aquinas, Dillard, Fort Lauderdale and Boyd Anderson. Plantation, South Plantation, Piper and Nova will be in District 12. Class 3M of District 13 consists of South Broward, McArthur, Hollywood Hills and Dade County school Dr. Krop. Miramar, Everglades, Pembroke Pines Charter and Dade County school American are in District 14.
There are two districts with smaller schools. Class 2M District 12 has American Heritage, Cardinal Gibbons, Hallandale and Stranahan. Class 1M District 6 is made up of high schools from three different counties which includes Chaminade-Madonna, St. John Paul II, Avant Garde and Somerset Bay.
New Palm Beach County Football Districts
Palm Beach County high school football teams will be involved in different districts for the upcoming 2022 regular season. Many of the schools will have a shorter distance to take on local rivals in their new FHSAA districts.
The larger schools in Palm Beach County will be separated in Class 4M districts. District 9 will have Palm Beach Gardens, Palm Beach Lakes, Royal Palm Beach and Jupiter. Class 4M District 10 consists of Palm Beach Central, Wellington, John I. Leonard and Forest Hill.
Park Vista, Boca Raton, Santaluces and Lake Worth make up Class 4M District 11. Only one Palm Beach County school in Olympic Heights will clash with Coral Springs, Monarch and Marjory Stoneman Douglas of Broward County in District 12.
West Boca Raton has the same exact situation with Deerfield Beach, Blanche Ely and Coconut Creek in Class 3M District 10. Atlantic, Dwyer and Seminole Ridge will battle it out in Class 3M District 9.
Class 2M in District 9 has Glades Central, The King's Academy, Suncoast and Inlet Grove. Class 2M in District 10 consists of American Heritage, Boynton Beach, St. Andrew's and Somerset Academy Canyons. The smaller schools will put Benjamin, Cardinal Newman and Sports Leadership & Management in Class 1M District 5.
Only two Palm Beach County high schools will be involved inside a rural district. Pahokee and Glades Day will be in Class 1R of Region 4 with six other teams that includes Hawthorne and Trenton. Spanish River and Jupiter Christian are the only independent football programs in Palm Beach County that will not be in district this year.
New Treasure Coast Football Districts
St. Lucie County and Martin County high schools, making up the Treasure Coast region, have new FHSAA football districts for the upcoming 2022 season. Many of the schools are more closely located against other local rivals.
Class 4S in District 12 will have the higher populated high schools. They include Vero Beach, Centennial, Treasure Coast, Fort Pierce Central and Martin County.
Other schools in the area have Southfork, Jensen Beach and Port St. Lucie in Class 3S of District 12. Fort Pierce Westwood, Okeechobee and Sebring will be in Class 3S in District 11.

Marlins Sail By A's
The Miami Marlins triumphed over the Oakland A's 5-3 on Tuesday night at RingCentral Coliseum. The Marlins will go for the three-game series sweep on Wednesday.
Miami(54-69) took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. Brian Anderson blasted a solo homer to left field on a 0-1 pitch for his fifth home run of the year.
Oakland(45-79) surrendered four more runs in the top of the sixth and trailed 5-0. Jesus Aguilar got an infield single to the left side and Luke Williams scored. Two batters later, Jerar Encarnacion doubled to left field for Anderson and Aguilar to score. Jacob Stallings then knocked in Encarnacion on a base hit to center.
The A's were able to break the shutout in the bottom of the ninth with three runs. Stephen Vogt got a single up the middle and Sean Murphy reached home. Shea Langeliers drove in Chad Pinder with a double to deep left. Jonah Bride brought in Vogt on a sacrifice fly to right field.
Kenyan Drake Released By Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders have released running back Kenyan Drake. He was with the team during the 2021 NFL season. Drake compiled 254 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 12 games.
Drake was once with the Miami Dolphins for four seasons from 2016 until 2019. His best season with the Dolphins was in 2017 with 644 rushing yards in 16 contests.
Rich Waltz CBS Sports Network Announcer
Former Marlins television voice Rich Waltz will be the lead college football play-by-play announcer for CBS Sports Network this season. He previously announced college football and college basketball on Fox Sports.
Waltz was the television play-by-play announcer of the Marlins franchise from 2005 until 2017. He was the backup television play-by-play announcer of the Los Angeles Angels on Bally Sports West last year.

Marlins Top A's
The Miami Marlins rolled by the Oakland A's 3-0 at RingCentral Coliseum on Monday night. It was the first contest of a three-game series between both clubs.
The Marlins snapped a seven-game losing streak with the victory. Miami(53-69) has won four of their last 14 games.
The Fish got out to a 1-0 lead during the top of the second. Charles Leblanc lifted a solo home run to left field on a 1-0 pitch for his second career homer in the majors.
Oakland(45-78) gave up two runs in the third inning. Brian Anderson doubled into right field and Jon Berti crossed the plate. J.J. Bleday followed with a double to center field and Anderson scored.
Minnesota Vikings Cut Albert Wilson
Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Albert Wilson has been released by the Minnesota Vikings. He was with them since he signed as free agent back in June.
Wilson played three of the last four seasons with the Miami Dolphins. His best season with the club was in 2019 as he compiled 43 catches for 351 receiving yards.
Udonis Haslem Continues With Miami Heat
Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem announced that he will still be playing will the club for the upcoming 2022-23 NBA campaign. It will mark his 20th season in the National Basketball Association. Haslem has captured three NBA championships with the Heat in 2006, 2012 and 2013.
It will be Haslem's 20th season with playing with one team. Only Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks have accomplished that feat in NBA history.

Dodgers Sweep Marlins
The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a three-game series sweep on the Miami Marlins with a 10-3 victory at Dodger Stadium on Sunday. The Marlins continue their California road swing at they take on the Oakland A's tomorrow.

Ken Charles Heads To WSB
Former Miami radio programmer Ken Charles will become the new director of branding and programming at WSB-AM in Atlanta on September 12. He was recently the program director at KNX-AM in Los Angeles from 2015 to July 2022.
Charles once was the program director of 940 WINZ-AM and News Radio 610 WIOD-AM at Clear Channel Miami. He held both positions from 2007 until December 2012.

Dodgers Slide By Marlins
The Los Angeles Dodgers slipped by the Miami Marlins 2-1 at Dodger Stadium on Friday night. It was the beginning of a six-game California road trip for Miami(52-67). The Dodgers clinched a winning record for the 12th consecutive season.
Los Angeles(82-36) scored once in the bottom of the eighth to take a 2-1 lead. Will Smith reached first on a fielder's choice and Mookie Betts crossed the plate.

Cardinal Gibbons And Chaminade-Madonna Tie
Numerous kickoff classics started up in Broward County on Thursday. The biggest one had the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs tie the Chaminade-Madonna Lions 0-0 during a two-quarter game in The Furnace at Dr. Bue Tight Field in Fort Lauderdale.
Cardinal Gibbons captured the FHSAA Class 4A state championship in 2021. It was their third state title in the last four years. The Chiefs will be in Class 2M District 12 this year.
Chaminade-Madonna won the FHSAA Class 3A state crown last year and captured their fourth state championship in the past five seasons. They will be placed in Class 1M District 6 in 2022.
Palm Beach County Kickoff Classics Cancelled
Many kickoff classics to be held in Palm Beach County on Thursday night were cancelled. The Olympic Heights Lions versus the St. Andrew's Scots at Don Jones Memorial Field in Boca Raton was stopped during the first quarter with a 0-0 score.
The American Heritage Stallions hosted the Coral Springs Charter at The Corral in Delray Beach and they trailed 13-0 when the game was stopped. The Pahokee Blue Devils visited Centennial at Lawnwood Stadium in Fort Pierce and that contest did not happen.
Atlantic at Palm Beach Central Cancelled
Palm Beach County was to begin their kickoff classics on Thursday night. The contest with the Atlantic Eagles at the Palm Beach Central Broncos at Bronco Stadium was cancelled due to inclement weather.
Both schools are two of the top high school teams in Palm Beach County over the last couple of years. Atlantic is in Class 3M District 9 while Palm Beach Central is in Class 4M District 10 this season.

Miami Heat 2022-23 Schedule
The National Basketball Association released the regular season schedule on Wednesday. All 30 teams received their 2022-23 schedules.
The Miami Heat will open their 2022-23 NBA campaign with a four-game homestand. The team will play 10 of their first 14 games at FTX Arena in Miami. The Heat will not play on Christmas Day.
Joe Girardi Back In Television
Former Marlins manager Joe Girardi had returned to the television industry. He will work as a studio analyst of Chicago Cubs on Marquee Sports Network.
Girardi first managed in the majors with the Florida Marlins in 2006. He was named National League Manager of the Year and was fired by Jeffery Loria after just one year with the team.
He joined the New York Yankees and led them to their last World Series title in 2009. Girardi was at the helm of the Bronx Bombers from 2008 to 2017. He managed the Philadelphia Phillies from 2020 until June 2022.
LeBron James Signs Extension With Lakers
Former Miami Heat guard LeBron James has signed a two-year extension with the Los Angeles Lakers worth $97.1 million. It includes a player option for the 2024-25 NBA season.
James played four seasons with the Miami Heat from 2010-11 until 2013-14. He contributed to the franchise winning two NBA titles in 2012 and 2013 along with four consecutive Eastern Conference championships. He captured his third NBA title with the Lakers in 2020 over the Heat.
Padres Slam Marlins
The San Diego Padres escaped South Florida with a 10-3 win over the Miami Marlins at loanDepot park on Wednesday. The Marlins were unable to pull off a three-game series sweep of the Padres.
Both clubs will be heading for the west coast. The Fish have Thursday off and travel to face the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Friday night. The Friars will host the Washington Nationals tomorrow.
San Diego(66-54) raced out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first with their known Slam Diego brand. Jake Cronenworth smashed a grand-slam home run to right-center field on a 1-1 pitch for his 12th homer of the season. Juan Soto, Manny Machado and Josh Bell scored in from of him on the play. Ha-Seong Kim later knocked in Trent Grisham with a double into left field.
Miami(52-66) placed one run in the bottom of the first. Jon Berti doubled up the middle and Joey Wendle reached home.

Marlins Hold Off Padres
The Miami Marlins defeated the San Diego Padres 4-3 on Tuesday night at loanDepot park. Miami(52-65) will end up winning the three-game series against San Diego(65-54) this week.
Miami Heat Radio Rights Move To WQAM
AM 560 Sports WQAM-AM was named the new English language flagship station of the Miami Heat. The Heat radio rights move over from Audacy sister-station Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM.
WQAM had Miami Heat radio broadcasts during the first five seasons of the NBA franchise from 11988-89 until 1992-93. The Heat landed on 940 WINZ-AM from 1993-94 to 1995-96. The radio rights moved to sister-station WIOD-AM for the 1996-97 season.
Miami Heat radio broadcasts shifted from WIOD to 790 The Ticket after a couple of games into the 20110-11 regular season. The Miami Heat did not like that their game broadcasts were not given priority on that radio station and bumped for newly acquired Miami Dolphins radio broadcasts by WIOD.
There are now numerous local sports properties on WQAM as their flagship station. They include the Miami Dolphins along with University of Miami Hurricanes football and men's basketball.
Marlins Surprise Padres
The Miami Marlins got a 3-0 shutout victory over the San Diego Padres at loanDepot park on Monday night. The Marlins were recently swept at home by the Atlanta Braves.
Miami(51-65) moved out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. J.J. Bleday smashed a solo home run to right field on a 1-2 pitch for his third career homer. Lewin Diaz later drove in Miguel Rojas on a sacrifice fly to center field.
San Diego(65-53) surrendered another run in the sixth inning. Jacob Stallings singled up the middle to score Rojas.

CFP National Championship Game Comes To Miami
The CFP National Championship Game will be played in Hard Rock Stadium. It will occur in Miami Gardens in January 2026.
There has been a rotation used for the CFP National Championship Game since the 2014 season. Hard Rock Stadium last held the event in January 2021 when the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Ruth Riley Hunter Leaving Miami Heat Broadcasts
Ruth Riley Hunter will no longer be a part of Miami Heat broadcasts on television and radio. She will be involved with the Miami Heat organization in player programs, analytics and basketball operations.
Hunter was named as the Miami Heat radio analyst on home games in September 2018. She had the role of television studio analyst for Miami Heat road contests on Sun Sports and later Bally Sports Sun.
Colton Sceviour Exits For Europe
Former Florida Panthers right wing Colton Sceviour has left the National Hockey League. He has signed a one-year deal with SC Bern in Switzerland.
Sceviour was with the Florida Panthers from 2016-17 to 2019-20. He compiled 79 points in 240 regular season games over four seasons. After a one-year stint with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2020-21, he played in 35 contests last season with the Edmonton Oilers and had five points.
Jonathan Bostic Joins New Orleans Saints
Former local high school football player Jonathan Bostic has inked a deal with the New Orleans Saints. The length of the contract is for one season.
Bostic was with the Palm Beach Central Broncos while in high school. He eventually went to the University of Florida.
He was taken by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Bostic lasted just two seasons with that club. He had other stints with the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington.
Mackensie Alexander Signing With Dolphins
Cornerback Mackensie Alexander has signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins. There was no information on the contract length and the amount

Braves Sweep Marlins
The Atlanta Braves pulled off a 3-1 comeback victory over the Miami Marlins on Sunday at loanDepot park. The Braves completed a four-game series sweep of the Marlins.
Miami(50-65) scored during the bottom of the fourth for a 1-0 lead. Miguel Rojas singled to center field and J.J. Bleday crossed the plate.
Atlanta(70-46) overcame the Fish with three runs in the top of the ninth. Michael Harris II smacked a solo home run to left field on the first pitch of the inning to left field with no outs for his 12th homer of the year.
Five batters later, William Contreras knocked in Vaughn Grissom with a base hit to the right side. Matt Olson would later score on a wild pitch to make it 3-1.

Inter Miami CF Stuns New York City FC
inter Miami CF pulled off a shocking win as they defeated the defending Major League Soccer champions New York City FC 3-2 at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday night. Both teams met each other on July 23 and NYCFC was victorious 2-0 at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx.
It was the first victory for Inter Miami CF over New York City FC in four tries. The Herons lost in the Major League Soccer Tournament to them in July 2020 and they were eliminated from postseason contention in October 2021.

James White Retires
Former St. Thomas Aquinas and current New England Patriots running back James White has retired from the National Football League. He played all eight seasons in the NFL with the Patriots.
White was a running back for the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders while in high school. He helped them win consecutive FHSAA Class 5A state titles in 2007 and 2008. White also contributed to STA capturing the 2008 national championship.
After a four-year stay with the University of Wisconsin Badgers, he was selected in the fourth round by New England in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was part of three Super Bowl titles with the Patriots.
White is most known for scoring the first overtime touchdown in Super Bowl history as the Pats overcame a 25-point deficit against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. He became the first player to score three touchdowns in one Super Boal game.
NBA Retiring Bill Russell's Uniform Number
The National Basketball Association announced that the uniform number 6 for Bill Russell will be retired league wide. All 30 teams will wear a Russell patch for the entire 2022-23 season.
Russell passed away back on July 31 at the age of 88. Players who currently wear number 6 will be allowed to have it on their uniform for the remainder of their NBA careers.
LeBron James wore the same number while with the Miami Heat for four seasons from 2010-11\until 2013-14. There was a possibility that the Heat franchise might retire his uniform number sometime in the future. James changed his uniform number from 23 to 6 with the Los Angeles Lakers prior to the 2021-22 NBA campaign. He can continue wearing it as long as he is playing in the NBA..

The ratings were released for West Palm Beach area sports formatted radio stations. The time period went from the third week of June until the third week of July.
Fox Sports 640 South Florida WMEN-AM dropped from a 0.6 to a 0.4 in the month. The station has felt the effect of no New York Yankees game broadcasts during the summer for the first time in 15 years.

Marlins Ink Josh Rogers
The Miami Marlins have signed pitcher Josh Rogers to a minor league contract. He made his first start with the Marlins Triple-A club in Jacksonville tonight.
Rogers was in the majors with the Baltimore Orioles in 2018 and 2019. He was with the Washington Nationals in 2021 and 2022. Rogers had a 2-2 record and a 5.13 earned runs average for the Nats this season.
Phillies Edge Marlins
The Philadelphia Phillies slipped by the Miami Marlins 4-3 on Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia(62-48) scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to overtake Miami(49-61).
Riley Sheahan Signs With Sabres
Former Florida Panthers center Riley Sheahan has signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Sabres worth $950,000. He was with the Seattle Kraken last season and compiled four goals along with 13 assists in 69 games.
Sheahan was acquired by the Florida Panthers from the Pittsburgh Penguins in a four-player trade on February 1, 2019. He finished the season with the Cats and had 10 points in 33 contests.
Panthers Hand Andrew Hammond PTO
The Florida Panthers have made a professional tryout offer to goalie Andrew Hammond. He will have a chance to make the Panthers roster for the start of the 2022-23 NHL campaign.
Hammond has been with several clubs in the National Hockey League. He appeared on the scene with the Ottawa Senators in 2014-15 with a 20-1-2 record that regular season. Hammond split his time with the Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils last season.
Florida Panthers Name Assistant Coaches
The Florida Panthers have announced their new assistant coaches to their coaching staff. They are Jamie Kompon, Sylvain Lefebvre and Myles Fee. Both will work under head coach Paul Maurice, who was hired on June 23.
Kompon spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the Winnipeg Jets where Maurice was the head coach. Lefebvre is recognizable for his 14-season National Hockey League playing career and winning the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche over the Florida Panthers in 1996. He was on the San Diego Gulls coaching staff in the American Hockey League for the past three seasons.

Dolphins Deal Adam Shaheen
The Miami Dolphins have traded tight end Adam Shaheen to the Houston Texans. The Fins also gave their 2023 seventh-round pick away for the 2023 sixth-round selection from the Texans.
Shaheen was with the Dolphins in 2020 and 2021. He had 24 pass receptions for 260 receiving yards and three touchdowns over two seasons with Miami.
Phillies Push By Marlins
The Philadelphia Phillies knocked off the Miami Marlins 4-1 at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday night. The Phillies continued their dominance over the Fish in the past month. The Marlins have been held to just two runs in their last four meetings against the Phillies.
Philadelphia(61-48) broke out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. J.T. Realmuto doubled into left field for Alec Bohm to score.
Miami(49-60) evened it up 1-1 in the top of the fourth. J.J. Bleday picked up his second career homer on a 1-0 pitch to right field.
The Phillies answered back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Realmuto walloped a solo home run to left field on a 1-2 count for his 13th homer of the season. Two batters later, Jean Segura connected with a solo homer to left on a 3-2 pitch for his seventh home run of the year.
Miami Ratings July 2022
The radio ratings were issued for sports radio stations in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area. The time span went from the third week of June to the third week of July. The big surprise in the ratings was that there was a tie for second place between two of the local competitors.
AM 560 Sports WQAM-AM remained at a 0.5 in the period. WQAM has stuck with their local weekday schedule and weekend schedule of CBS Sports Radio Network.
Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM dropped from a 0.3 to a 0.2 in the month. It turned out that they tied a record of their ratings low for the past 17 years. WAXY did have a 0.2 back in July 2020. The addition of Inter Miami CF audio broadcasts back in April has not helped.
Fox Sports 940 WINZ-AM stayed at a 0.2 for the fourth consecutive month and tied with WAXY for second place in the market. The Marlins fell off the pace to contend for a National League playoff spot. The audience continued to tune in to syndicated Fox Sports Radio with shows hosted by Dan Patrick, Colin Cowherd and Joy Taylor. WINZ figured out that local sports programs were not necessary on the airwaves.
In the streaming procedure, WKIS-FM-HD2 with the WQAM stream went down from a 0.2 to a 0.1 for the period. WAXY streaming fell from the second straight month from a 0.1 to a 0.0. WQAM streaming did not exist and was at a 0.0 for the fourth consecutive period.

Dave Lowry Added By Seattle Kraken
Former Florida Panthers left wing Dave Lowry has been hired by the Seattle Kraken. He was the interim head coach with the Winnipeg Jets during the 2021-22 NHL season and replaced current Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice.
Lowry played for the Panthers in the first five seasons in franchise history. He led the team in scoring during the 1996 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Florida captured the 1996 Eastern Conference championship before being swept by the Colorado Avalanche in the 1996 Stanley Cup Finals.
Pirates Let Go Jake Marisnick
The Pittsburgh Pirates have released outfielder Jake Marisnick. He joined the Bucs for the 2022 season and had a .234 batting average with two home runs and six runs batted in during his 31-game tenure.
Marisnick was with the Miami Marlins in 2013 and 2014. He compiled a .178 batting average in 54 contests over two seasons with the club. He was traded to the Houston Astros in July 2014 and captured the 2017 World Series title with them.

Marlins Stop Cubs
The Miami Marlins prevented a three-gane series sweep with a 3-0 shutout win over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Sunday. The game did not start on time because of a rain delay that lasted 56 minutes.
Miami(49-59) chalked up three runs in the top of the fifth. Jacob Stallings hammered a two-run homer to left field on a 2-2 pitch with Charles Leblanc aboard.
Chicago(43-64) surrendered another run and trailed 3-0. Peyton Burdick connected with his first home run in the majors on the first pitch to left-center field.

Kiko Alonso Retires
Former Miami Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso has retired from the National Football League. He was placed on the reserve/retired list after he signed with the New Orleans Saints late this week.
Alonso played three seasons with the Miami Dolphins from 2016 to 2018. He also was with the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints during his NFL career.
Inter Miami CF And CF Montreal Draw
Inter Miami CF tied CF Montreal 2-2 at Stade Saputo on Saturday night in Canada. The team finished a two-game road trip and will host the defending Major League Soccer champion NYCFC next weekend.

Cubs Pass By Marlins
The Miami Marlins began a three-game series in Chicago on Friday and lost to the Chicago Cubs 2-1 at Wrigley Field. The Marlins started a six-game road trip.
Miami(48-58) made it 1-0 in the top of the seventh. Joey Wendle singled through the right field for Luke Williamis to cross the plate.
Chicago(42-63) overtook the Marlins in the bottom of the eighth. Willson Contreras bashed a two-run homer to left field on a 0-1 pitch for his 16th home run of the year. Nick Mardigal scored in front of him on the play.
Marlins Lose Jimmy Yacabonis
Miami Marlins pitcher Jimmy Yacabonis has been claimed off waivers by the Tampa Bay Rays. He will be placed on their Major League Baseball roster.
Yacabonis has mostly played for the Marlins Triple-A affiliate in Jacksonville this year. He had nine relief appearances with the parent club in 2022 and compiled a 1-1 record along with a 6.75 earned run average.
Juho Lammikko Returns To Europe
Former Florida Panthers forward Juho Lammikko has left the National Hockey League and returned to Europe. He signed a one-year deal with the ZSC Lions in Switzerland.
Lammikko played in 2018-19 and 2020-21 with the Panthers and had 11 points in 84 games. He was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in October 2021 and had 15 points in 75 contests with them last season.

Jonathan Huberdeau Signs Extension With Flames
Former Florida Panthers left wing Jonathan Huberdeau has signed an eight-year contract extension with the Calgary Flames worth $84 million. The deal runs through the 2030-31 season.
He was traded by the Panthers along with defenseman MacKenzie Weegar for left wing Matthew Tkachuk on July 22. Huberdeau had a league-high 85 assists along with a team-high 115 points last season with Florida.
Inter Miami CF Shake San Jose Earthquakes
Inter Miami CF got by the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 on Wednesday night. It was the first time ever that both teams met and played each other in a Major League Soccer game.
It was just the second game this season that Inter Miami CF participated in a contest on the west coast. They upset the Sounders 1-0 in Seattle back on April 16.
The only tally of the game was in the 12th minute by Inter Miami CF. Jean Mota Oliveira de Souza blasted a half-volley, left-footed shot from 24 yards away into the top right corner of the cage.
Dan Strailey Goes To Asia
Former Major League Baseball pitcher Dan Strailey is leaving for Asia. He has signed a one-year contract worth $200,000 with the Lotte Giants of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Strailey pitched with the Miami Marlins in 2018 and 2019. He had a 15-15 record and a 4.20 earned run average in 56 starts with the team.
Antwan Staley New York Jets Writer
Former Miami Dolphins reporter Antwan Staley has joined the New York Daily News. He will be the New York Jets beat writer for that newspaper next week.
Staley, an East Carolina University grad, covered the Miami Dolphins for six seasons with USA Today as The Dolphins Wire writer until February 2019. He also was a freelance reporter on the Florida Panthers from 2014 to 2016. Staley was a Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM guest co-host on their evening show alongside Josh Friedman, Greg Likens and Zack Duarte from 2015 until 2019. He also was a college football writer for Athlon Sports.
He has bounced around since he exited South Florida. Staley was a MLB.com beat reporter covering the Baltimore Orioles for several months during the 2019 season. He was a Carolina Panthers reporter in 2019 and 2020. Staley landed at the Tallahassee Democrat as the Florida State University beat writer in October 2020 and was employed there until recently.

The Miami Marlins blanked the Cincinnati Reds 3-0 at loanDepot park on Wednesday night. The Marlins stopped a nine-game home losing streak and finished their homestand 1-5. The Fish go on the road and face the Cubs in Chicago on Friday.
Miami(48-57) leaped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Jesus Aguilar blasted a solo home run to left field on a 1-1 pitch for his 13th homer of the season.
Cincinnati(42-62) surrendered two more runs in the fifth inning and trailed 3-0. Garrett Cooper ripped a double into left field for Luke Hamilton and former Reds player Billy Hamilton to score.
Allison Willaims Joins Fox Sports
Former local sportscaster Allison Williams is joining Fox Sports. She will work as a college football sideline reporter for that network. Williams will continue her position as a reporter for The Daily Wire. She has been employed there since October 2021.
Williams, a 2006 University of Miami grad, was known in South Florida working at Fox Sports Net Florida from 2008 until October 2013. She started out there as a reporter for Miccosukee Sports Rap. Williams was shifted over to Florida Marlins game broadcasts as a sideline reporter and rinkside reporter on Florida Panthers telecasts. She was elevated to the Florida Panthers studio host position prior to the 2011-12 NHL season. Williams also did work as a sideline reporter on ACC college football games.
Williams joined ESPNU as a college basketball sideline reporter in November 2011. She then added duties at ESPN as a college basketball sideline reporter and college basketball sideline reporter. Williams departed that organization in October 2021.
She began her professional broadcasting career with Comcast Sports Southeast. Williams hosted the College Football Tailgate Show and was a sideline reporter on college football contests.

Reds Slip By Marlins
The Cincinnati Reds edged the Miami Marlins 2-1 on Tuesday night at loanDepot park. The Marlins, who lost their ninth straight home game, will try to prevent a three-game sweep by the Reds along with a 0-6 homestand on Wednesday.
In the first inning, Cincinnati(42-61) compiled two runs. Aristides Aquino singled through the right side for Nick Senzel and Kyle Farmer to score.
Miami(47-57) got their only run during the bottom of the sixth. Miguel Rojas hit a sacrifice fly to right field which brought in Charles Leblanc.
Sandy Leon Dealt To Twins
Foirner Miami Marlins catcher Sandy Leon has been traded by the Cleveland Guardians to the Minnesota Twins for pitcher Ian Hamilton. Leon participated in just eight games for Cleveland in 2022.
Leon played 83 contests with the Miami Marlins last season. He ended up with a .183 batting average, four home runs and 14 runs batted in with the Marlins in 2021.
Marlins Trade Zach Pop And Anrhony Bass
The Miami Marlins have dealt pitchers Zach Pop and Anthony Bass to the Toronto Blue Jays for shortstop Jordan Groshans. The Fish get a player that has been in the Blue Jays minor league system.
Pop had a 2-0 record in 18 relief appearances with the Marlins this season. It was his second year in the majors. Bass made 45 relief appearances and had a 2-3 record with a 1.41 earned runs average.
49ers Get Akeem Spence
The San Franscisco 49ers have inked defensive lineman Akeem Spence to a one-year contract. He has played for eight different teams during his nine-season NFL career.
Spence did start all 16 regular season games for the Miami Dolphins in 2018. He compiled 42 total tackles and two sacks for the Dolphins.
Stephen Ross Suspended
Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has been suspended by the National Football League. The suspension will run from today until October 17.
The Dolphins will also lose two future second-round picks because of tampering. It will be a first-round selection in 2023 and a third-round selection in 2024.
Petteri Lindbohm Leaves Florida Panthers
Florida Panthers defenseman Petteri Lindbohm has left the organization. He has signed a deal with Frolunda HC in the SHL.
Lindbohm signed a contract with the Florida Panthers on February 28. He participated in nine regular season games and had one point. Lindbohm did not play in any of the Panthers 10 postseason games during the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Mariners Add Jonathan Villar
The Seattle Mariners have signed second baseman Jonathan Villar to a minor league contract. He had a stint with the Chicago Cubs at the start of the 2022 regular season and was with the Los Angeles Angels up until last week.
Villar did spend 30 games with the Miami Marlins during the 2020 campaign. He was traded away to the Toronto Blue Jays prior to the Fish reaching the postseason that year.
Matt Joyce Retiring
Matt Joyce has retired from playing Major League Baseball. He participated with eight different clubs during his MLB career.
Joyce played just one season with the Miami Marlins in 2020. He helped the team reach the postseason for the first time since 2003.
Reds Topple Marlins
The Cincinnati Reds knocked off the Miami Marlins 3-1 at loanDepot park on Monday night. Miami(47-56) and Cincinnati(41-61) split a four-game series in Ohio last week.
The Reds moved out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Albert Almora Jr. doubled into right field to score Joey Votto and Donovan Solano.
They increased it to a three-run margin in the top of the seventh. Jonathan India drove in Almora on a base hit into left field.
The Marlins broke the shutout in the ninth inning. Nick Fortes singled up the middle and Lewin Diaz crossed the plate.
Mark McCray New WMEN Program Director
Mark McCray has been named the new program director at Fox Sports 640 South Florida WMEN-AM. He will also have the same role at WMBX-FM.
It will be McCray's second stint in the West Palm Beach market. He was the operations manager, program director and morning host at WMBX. McCray added duties at operations manager and program director for WJBW-FM.
McCray worked at KQBT-FM in Austin as an assistant program director and music director prior to his arrival in South Florida back in 2001. He left West Palm Beach for Radio One Dallas as operations manager and was later elevated to vice president of operations and programming. McCray remained there until 2020 and then became a part of Clear Media Networks as president of programing and operations along with being The Radio Daze podcast host.
