Jorge Alfaro Heads To Red Sox

     Former Miami Marlins catcher Jorge Alfaro has signed a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox. He would receive $2 million should he made their major league roster and could opt out of his deal on June 1 or July 1. 

     Alfaro played with the Marlins for three seasons from 2019 until 2021. He contributed to that franchise making the postseason in 2020 for the first time since 2003. Alfaro spent last season with the San Diego Padres and had seven home runs, 40 runs batted in and a .246 batting average in 82 games.
