Homestead Holds Off Jones

     The Homestead Broncos handled the Jones Tigers 42-35 on Friday night in a FHSAA Class 3M state semifinal. The Broncos reached the championship game for the second straight year. It will be a rematch against the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders next week for the FHSAA Class 3M state title. 

     Homestead(12-1) scored first and had a 7-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Both Jones(10-4) and their opponent combined for 36 points during the second quarter, but the Broncos had a 28-21 halftime lead. Both high schools reached the end zone in the third quarter. Homestead got some breathing space with a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter for a 42-28 lead.
